Larry Guterman, your instructor, directed the hit live-action film CATS & DOGS (Warner Bros), starring Jeff Goldblum, Tobey Maguire, Sean Hayes, and Susan Sarandon. The film earned over $200 million in theatrical box office revenue, and the New York Times called it “Exuberant fun,” while the Chicago Daily Herald said “Director Lawrence Guterman demonstrates an amazing command of his craft here.” The Miami Herald called the film “Undeniably charming” and the BBC said it “succeeds both as parody of the spy genre and in stretching the boundaries of what you believe is possible.”
About
Guterman was also a director of ANTZ (for DreamWorks; as “Director of Additional Sequences”), for which he directed the “March to Battle with the Termites,” sequence, starring Danny Glover and Woody Allen, the “Ant Bar” scene with Sylvester Stallone, and numerous other sections of the film, including scenes with Sharon Stone, Christopher Walken, Gene Hackman, Dan Aykroyd, and more. The film earned $171 at the box office.

Larry was Executive Producer of REMEMBER, a powerful drama directed by Oscar-winner Atom Egoyan, starring Christopher Plummer and Martin Landau. “Remember” won 4 Canadian Screen Academy Awards.
After Steven Spielberg saw his live action USC Master’s Thesis film, “Headless!” (which had won the Grand Jury Prize for “Best Student Film” at the Houston International Film Festival), Larry was hired by DreamWorks Interactive to direct their flagship interactive computer game, “Goosebumps: Escape from Horrorland,” starring Jeff Goldblum and Isabella Rosselini.
Larry has an MA in film from the USC School of Cinematic Arts, and a bachelor’s in physics from Harvard, where he illustrated and wrote for the Harvard Lampoon, after attending MIT his freshman year
